HAURAKI PLAINS ASSOCIATION.
MEETING AT NGATEA.
The Hauraki Plains Hockey Association met at Ngatea on Friday evening, the president, Mr J. H. Nicholson (Kerepeehi), presiding over. Messrs. S. Cook (Kerepeehi), J. Miller and H. Kerby (Kopuarahi), H. L. Berney and C. W. Harris (Waitakaruru), N. Boyne (Ngatea), A. E. Aberhart and L. Henwood (Turua), and R. C. Abel (Ngatea School), hon. secretary. AFFILIATION. The Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association wrote acknowledging receipt of the association’s application for affiliation, which had been considered and granted. Copies of the association’s rules had been forwarded for general information. The fee fpr affiliation wqs 10s 6d per association, regardless of the number of clubs. The- fee for entrance into the Country Week competition was 5s per team entered. In all probability the tournament would commence on July 4. Early notification concerning colours would be advisable. It was decided that the Plains association’s colours be white cap, white sweater, white shoes, black tie, black dress, black stockings. . Miss E. Harris of Devonport. was appointed delegate to the Auckland Ladies’ Association.
The secretary was authorised to enter a team for the Auckland Country Week tournament.
It was decided that there- be three selectors, and Messrs E. Campbell, C. W. Harris, and S. Cook were appointed. No competition matches would be played when the representatives wo’" absent.
It was decided to play a Possibles v. Probables match at Ngatea on June 25. to give the selectors a final chance to pick the team to go to Auckland. The- match would be played before the Rugby game. and. the secretary was instructed to approach the Ngatea Football Club for permission to take up a collection in aid of the cost of touring. NICHOLSON SHIELD. Mr J. H. Nicholson outlined the conditions under which the Nicholson Shield would be competed for. It would be for annual competition among the teams affiliated with the Hauraki Plains Ladies’ Sub-associa-tion, and would become the property of the team winning the competition three- times in succession, or five times at intervals. Each annual competition with the exception of the present season would comprise two rounds. Mr Nicholson also promised to have a plate engraved with the name- of the winning team attached to the shield each year. The conditions of the competition as outlined were accepted. In view of the need for commencing the competition early next season it was decided that the annual meeting of the association be held prior to the second week in March. CLUB COMPETITION. Club secretaries were instructed by resolution to register, the players of their teams, and referees to forward the results of the inter-club competition matches to the secretary of the association, together with lists of players. In the event of clubs desiring to play friendly matches, permission must be obtained from the secretary, Mr R. C. Abel, Ngatea. REFEREES. To the list of approved referees were added the- names of Messrs W. Watts, T. Mitchell, M. Canning. T. Field, S. Barker, and Rev. J. R. Hall.
