LOCAL RAINFALL.
STATISTICS FOR MAY.
RAIN ON SIXTEEN DAYS
From statistics compiled at the local office of the Public Works Department the rainfall so far this year at Paeroa. to the end of May was 0.35 in less than the first five months in 1926. The rainfall for this year now totals 19.57 inches.
Rain fell on 16 days last month, the total being 4.79 ineh.es, which is 4.62 inches less than in the corresponding month last year. The heaviest .fall was on May 28, when 1.44 inches were registered.
The thermometer averaged Sldeg., the lowest reading being on May 2, when 42deg. mark was reached. The barometer was fairly steady throughout the month, the average reading being 30.12 degrees. The lowest reading wfls 29.61 degrees, and the highest 30.45. The prevailing wind during the month was nor’-westerly, which was recorded on 11 days.
