FOOTBALL.

PAEROA RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union Committee was held ou Monday night, the chairman (Mr C. T. Mettam) presiding over the following : Messrs J, Pinder, E. P. Fathers, H. M. Shand, C. H. Potter, and R. Hodson (secretary). CLEARANCE GRANTED. An application for a clearance on account of living at Matamata was received from J. Verran (West club), —Granted, subject to him being financial. A DEFAULTING CLUB. it was decided to write to the Suburbs club drawing attention to the expense to the union in sending a referee to Hikutaia on Saturday last, and the inconvenience to the Netherton team in travelling to Hikutaia when Suburbs failed to put a team in the field. It was resolved that the club secretary be advised that in future, if a team could not be placed in the- field the union must be advised by 9 o’clock on the morning of the proposed match. THIRD ROUND. It was decided to limit the senior and junior competitions to three rounds, and the draw for the final round as submitted by the secretary was approved. GENERAL. The secretary was authorised to see that the representative jerseys were in good condition and correctly numbered. The application of T. Radford (East club) to be regraded to junior status was considered It was decided that it w,as too late in the season to regrade, and in any case the application should have been made in writing by the club concerned. The secretary was authorised to obtain quotations for printing 100 copies in book form of the amended rules.

Mr Pinder was appointed in place of Mr J. M. Crosby on the sub-com-mittee set up to frame conditions for playing for the Drysdale Cup. TO-MORROW’S MATCHES. TEAMS SELECTED. The third round in the Paeroa Rugby Union’s senior and junior competitions will be commenced to-mor-row afternoon. The fixtures at the local domain are: Seniors, West v. Suburbs. No. 1 ground, 3 p.m., referee, Mr D. G. McMillan ; juniors, East v. Netherton, No. 2 ground, 2.30 p.m., referee Mr E. Smith ; third-grade, Paeroa, School v. West, No. 1 ground, 1.45 p.m., referee Mr J. Rackham. The West junior team journeys to Hikutaia, where it will meet the Suburbs juniors. Mr -F. T. V. Johnson has been appointed referee. The following is the West senior team to play Suburbs: Smardon, G. Wells, R. Swann, H. Coldieutt, K. Dean, Nield, Masters, M. Poland, E. Neil, H. Edwards, E. Fisher, V. Carrick, Greenhalgh, Mills, H. McKee, Shaw.

West juniors to play Suburbs at Hikutaia : Overall, Wickliffe, Srnnctt, J. Conolly, Duffy, Bailey, Rick, J. Insley, W. Hargieaves, D, Currie, Sirnw, Mayo, Pennell, Helling, G. Taylor. Emergencies : C. Nield and Ki.lgour. The following will represent the East juniors : S. Williams, J. Walls, F. Barakat, R. Williams, H. Moore, L. Salby, R. Mead, C. Vincent, J. Goonan, B. McGuire, N. Neil, L. Joines. G. Morrow, A. Flatt, F. Clayton. Emergencies: L. Grant, H. Sr-inks, B. King, G. Tressider. The following is the West third grade to play school: R. Alps, L. Vercoe, C. Chisholm, T. Leigh, E, Verran, M. Rackham, V. Barakat, Grant,, N. Campbell, J. Morland, P. Holes, F, Johnson, G. Williams, B. Bramley, F. Capill. Emergencies: F, Short, D. Hayes, Tressider, Wickliffe, Pereniki.

The following games will be played by. the schoolboy teams representing the schools in the Paeroa Schools’ Rugby Union’s district to morrow: Karangahake v. Nethcrton, at Paeroa ; Paeroa A v. Hikutaia, at Paeroa; Paeroa B q bye, as Convent is now combining with Karangahake. Teachers are requested to notify their teams to assemble at the Paeroa Domain at 10 o’clock in order that boys over Bst may be officially weighed.

HAURAKI PLAINS COMPETITIONS.

The Hauraki Plains Rugby interclub competitions will be continued on Saturday next, when Turua and Ngatea will meet, Waitakaruru will play West, and the Turua B juniors will play Kerepeehi. In the school matches Turua will visit Ngatea and Kerepeehi will play at Kopuarahi.
