MOTOR ACCIDENT.
A NOSE DIVE ON THAMES ROAD. HEALTH INSPECTOR INJURED. When returning to Thames from Paeroa on Friday night Mr M. C. McLeod, district health inspector, met with an accident on Thames Road north of the Ohinemuri JockeyClub’s property. It is understood that in passing a motor-car on a narrow part of the road Mr McLeod became dazzled by the brilliant lights of the approaching car. He pulled to one side of the road and the vehicles s:]fely passed, but when attempting to get back on to the crown of the road the back wheels of Mr McLeod’s car. apparently skidded in the soft rubble, and before he could straighten the car it had nose-dived into the drain alongside. So far as can be gathered no one actually saw the accident, but Mr McLeod was rendered semi-conscious, and remained in the wrecked car for some time. Feeling better, he left tlie car and walked to Nurse Jarrett’s residence in Seymour Street, where on arrival he again lapsed into unconsciousness, and a doctor was sent for.
It appears that Mr McLeod was suffering from concussion and bruises, but on inquiries being made of Nurse Jairett this morning it was learned that he was very much better and in no danger.
The remarkable part of the occurrence is how Mr McLeod walked a distance of nearly three miles in pouring rain in the state of collapse that he was in. The car was badlj damaged.
