“EXCLUDE LUXURIES."
HARD WORK NECESSARY.
PRIME MINISTER’S MESSAGE.
The gospel of hard work, increased production, and economy was expounded again by’ the Prime Minister yesterday morning, when he addressed a gathering in the Coronation Hall at Te Kopuru. “I know there are many who say the Prime Minister or the Government is responsible for the present depression,” said Mr Coates. “I happen to be the head of a Government that is being roundly criticised and blamed for all the ills of the country. tOf course the Government is helping and will help, to make things easier for those feeling the pinch, but I say quite definitely that the Government can npmore find a solution for all the difficulties of this country than I can fly over the moon. "Hasty, ill-considered legislation will pack up a pile of troubles that will be far more difficult to deal with than those we have now. We can and will get through our present depression, but it means hard work all round, economy, and a readiness to exclude luxuries.”
