BOWLING.

FORMAL CLOSING OF SEASON. Tlie members of the Paeroa Bowling Club brought their 1926-27 season to a formal close on Saturday afternoon. Owing to the heavy rain that fell it was not possible to carry out the diffierent competitions which are usually played on closing days. The members present adjourned to the pavilion, where the president (Mr P. Williams) in a brief speech declared the season closed and congratulated the members on the successes gained during the season. In expressing his thanks for the assistance and cooperation received during his term of office the president said that he thought the season had been a very enjoyable one, but it was unfortunate that the last day should have been so wet. To commemorate- his term as president Mr Williams was asked by Mr W. Purd.ie to accept a photograph of the winners of the Clothier Shield tournament comprising W. McCullay, W. T. Power, W. Hamilton, and AV. Purdie (skip). The president said it gave him pleasure to accept the- photograph, which he would treasure highly. The members were all proud of the honour won by Mr Purdie’s team, and the winning of the shield had also brought honour to the club.
