BOROUGH RATES.

POSITION OBTAINING AT PAEROA.

SLIGHT INCREASE NECESSARY.

At last night’s meeting the Paeroa Borough Council the Finance Committee submitted the following report:—

“Rates for 1927-28. —Estimates of income and expenditure in the- various accounts are before you to-night, and we recommend that they be approved and notice of intention to strike and collect the following rates be made and given : General rate of 3%d ; Hospital rate of 11-16 d ; Street Lighting rate of 9-16 d; Financial Loan Adjustment Interest rate of l-16d ; Sewerage Loan Interest rate of 2 1 /4d : Street Improvements Loan Interest rate of %d ; Domain Improvements Loan rate of ; total, 7 13-16(1.

“This shows'an increase of 13-16ths of one penny over the previous year. The general, lighting, and street improvement rates show a slight increase. The hospital and sewerage loan rates show a slight decrease, and provision requires to he made to collect a rate on the financial loan adjustment account and the domain improvements loan interest account.

“We recommend’ that £BOO be transferred from the Water Account ot the General Account, and that £l2O be transferred from the Ngahina Wharf account for use on municipal reserves improvements and in pursuance ot the Mayor’s report which was adopted last year.”
