At Tuesday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Power Board Mr J. Price (Matamata) drew attention to the fact that some people who were on the flat rate system were in the habit of burning electric lights all night. There was probably no reason why the lights should be kept burning so long, and it was rather a. selfish and extravagant attitude to adopt. The board could not growl at trie farmers while several lights burned all night at the. board’s condenser station at Matamata. Economy, as well as charity, should begin at home. The chairman (Mr F. M. Strange) said it was only fair for people on the flat rate system to use the lighting economically and without undue extravagance. Illfeeling was created in the minds of the consumers on the meter system. The matter was referred to the engineer to look into.
