ANZAC DAY.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR MONDAY, COMMEMORATION SERVICE. A fitting observance of Anzac Day, which falls on Monday next, is to be carried out at Paeroa. His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Marshall), in conjunction with the local military authorities, and churches, has arranged a suitable form of service It is proposed to officially place a wreath at the Roll of Honour at the local district high school at 2 p.m. The returned soldiers, territorials, senior cadets, boy scouts, girl guides, and the fire brigade have been asked to parade at 1.45 p.m. at the high school grounds. After the ceremony of placing the wreath has been completed, the procession, le.d by the Salvation Army band, will march down Victoria Street along Normanby Road to Mackay Street, entering the Domain at the Mackay Street gates, ami proceed to the band rotunda, where a united service will be held at 2.30 p.m. The boy scouts band will assist with the music on the march to tlie domain. Civilians are cordially invited to fall in four-deep and take part in the procession. In the event of wet weather tlie service will be held at the Gaaiety Theatre, as formerly.
Citizens are invited to fly bunting, and are requested to lower to halfmast from 1.4'5 to 3.30 p.m.
It is earnestly hoped that citizens will co-operate with the" officials in carrying put the arrangements, -and by so doing realise.their solemn obligations to those who laid down their lives.
