BOROUGH ELECTIONS.
NINE NOMINATIONS RECEIVED. EIGHT VACANCIES AVAILABLE. Nominations for ejection as councillors on the Paeroa Borough Council closed at mid-day to-day. Owing to the retirement of Mr G. p. de Castro, and the fact that the seven sitting councillors have been nominated, in addition to two other nominations an election will be necessary. The two new candidates for municipal honours arc Messrs R. B, Dunlop and W. Turner.
It is gratifying to note that the burgesses appreciate the sterling services rendered by the sitting Mayor (Mr W. Marshall), who is returned unopposed. It is also worthy of note that ratepayers are appreciative of the “efforts of Messrs E. Edwards, representative on the Thames Harbour Board ; P. E. Ere,nan, Thames Hospital Board ; and F. E. Flatt, Thames Valley Electric Power Board, that they should also be returned unopposed. The following, with the names of their nominators, are candidates for the eight seats on the Borough Council :— p. E. Brenna, nominatexl by Messrs E. H. Andrews, E. Edwards, H. Poland, and G. P. Silcock, nominated by Messrs D. Leach and C. B. Genti).
