A 12-inch sluice pipe lias be.cn placed through tlie dam, and provision will be made for flood-water to flow over the top.
The outlet from the reservoKwiU be. through a tunnel a few chains above the dam. This tunnel was finished some months ago, and the pipeline is now being laid. The tunnel ends will be filled up with concrete. Two pipes will pierce the wall at the reservoir end, and one will be connected direct to the mains while the other will discharge straight into the tunnel. This is intended for use. in the event of the rose on the pipe-line becoming blocked, and provision will be made to divert the -water from the. tunnel into the main at the lower end:
The dam will raise the water level about 15ft, and this will affect the stream level for over half a mile. A large gang of workmen is now engaged laying the pipe-line along the roadside westward from Dalget.v’s corner. The Hume Pipe Co. has the contract for this section of the reticulation.
