ELECTRIC POWER.
THAMES VALLEY BOARD MEETING. ROUTINE BUSINESS. The monthly meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board was held at Te Arolia on Tuesday, the chairman (Mr F. M. Strange) presiding over the following: Messrs F. E. Flatt .J B. Thomas. G. Howie, J. Price’ J. Pohlen, J. W. Anderson, W. E, G. Willy, C. A. Arthur, J. W. McCormick, H. R. Bush, H. M. Corbett, R. Sprague (manager) and N. G. McLeod (engineer). DELAY IN SUPPLY. In reply to the board’s complaint that there had been unnecessary delay in restoring supply to Waihi after woi k on the Waikino-Waihi line during the Christmas period the district electrical engineer of the PublicWorks Department wrote stating that the matter had been inquired into and it had been found that the delay was due to the slipping of a clamp while work was in progress. This had caused an excessive strain on one insulator, and the delay was necessary to make the insulator safe. The lineman had fully realised the importance of restoring supply as soon as possible. In reply to Mr Price the engineer said that the power had been off nearly all the afternoon. The letter was received. • PAYMENT OF ACCOUNT. The Rising Sun Gold Mining Co. Ltd., wrote advertising that it could not forward a cheque for power supplied until later on. A general meeting of shareholders had been called, at which it would be decided whether to continue operations or go into liquidation. To Mr Flatt the manager stated that the liability was £3OO, and the beard was not secured in any way. Mr Flatt : That’s refreshing ! The manager replied that the liability had been a legacy from the Public Works Department. Mr Corbett said that the company would pay all right. Mr Flatt : Yes, but when ? We had better take over the mine ! STREET LIGHTS. The Putaruru Town Board wrote inquiring the cost of, installing from six to. 12 street lights in the township. The engineer advised that he had replied quoting standard rates. SEWER CONNECTION. The Thames Borough Council wrote notifying the board that it would be necessary to link up its property with the borough sewerage system. It was decided to comply with the request. FINANCE. Accounts amounting to £4733 3s 6d on the power fund and £5189 Is 8d on the loan account were passed for payment.
