THE MAYORALTY.
MR. MARSHALL TO AGAIN STAND.
REPLY TO DEPUTATION
In connection with the forthcoming municipal elections in April the question of who is to occupy the Mayoral chair at Paeroa is now answered by reason of the following letter, whicn was received from Mr W. Marshall by Mr E. W. Porritt yesterday morning : “With reference to the request which was made to me on Saturday m the petition which you presented, ami the representations so kindly made by yourself and members of the deputation, I have to reply that I have given tire matter most serious consideration and am unable t<‘ avoid the conclusion that it is my duty to offer my services for a short time longer. Though, as you know, this is done with considerable reluctance, I. am deeply sensible of the honour which has been accorded me, and it will be my endeavour, if elected, to continue to merit the esteem of the burgesses.”
