Motorists who are compelled to journey to Auckland are advised to take the Miranda-Mangatangi road in preference tp the main highway through Maramarua. The clay section the Mangatangi road has been graded up this week and ia very much . to be preferred to the rough metal of the highway while the fine weather lasts. The road for 50 chains from the Miranda corner is being metalled. From Papakura tp Papatoetoe the Great South Road and the deviations are in an abominable state, and no person with any respect for his car would drive over them. Chains will be essential in wet weather to negotiate the new clay fillings and cuttings, but it would be a lucky motorist who would get through without broken springs or worse.
