GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES. TO-NIGHT. THE SEA BEAST. “The Sea Beast,” featuring John Barrymore, which is to be screened to-night, preserves for future generations the ’ romance of those days of 1840. In this hour you live the lives of those sturdy adventurers, you suffer their wounds, ache in your heart for their lost loves, and glory with them in their triumphant, battle with the sperm whale. BENEFIT ENTERTAINMENT. THURSDAY, MARCH 3. Ever recurring yet ever ifresh, from Pan df ancient mythology to Shakespeare, Milton, and Wordsworth, runs a vein of thought extolling the commanding force yet, seductive, pleasing tones of music. Where is. the poet who has not in this theme bent low in presenting his tributes to, the Goddess of Music 1 Human nature’ the world over is arrested, comforted, inspired or stimulated by the power of music, and the people of Paeroa far from prove an exception to the rule. Entertainment of a variety and quality n’’t common away from large centres will, on Thursday evening next, doubtless delight the number of folk throughout this district who are planning tx> be present at the Gaiety Theatre and sc help forward the effort to raise funds to assist Mr Eric Robson an ex-Paeroa lad and footballer, who is at the present time an inmate of Pukeora Sanatorium, Hawke’s Bay. An entertainer of the versatility and popularity cf Mr Herb. Beech requires but. announcement to guarantee a delighted audience. Many folk will remember the tour of the famous Waikiki Hawaiian Orchestra throughout the Dominion, and this combination, whose appearance at Paeroa is announced far Thursday, will doubtless be an assest to an already fine programme. Space forbids detailed, announcement of the Thames art,’sts who have willingly offered the effort support, but suffice it to say that elocutionary art, veeal, instrumental items of a high standard will, besides the lighter work of several popular entertainers, be received with approval.
