Plains reached 62 in the first innings, and Thames batted out time in the second innings, for 87 runs, winning by 20 runs on the first innings. In both games the Plains players were, at a disadvantage in not being used to a turf pitch. Practically all the Plains pitches are of concrete, as turf is. unsuitable in the class of country on the Plains.
