THOROUGHNESS PAYS.

A CONTRAST IN METHODS. APPLICATION TO FARMING. Not so very far from MoTrlnsville (says the "Star”) there are two farms side by side, occupied and broken in at the same time. They were in a similar state when taken over, but, at the present time, after several years of occupation by the same men, there is a vast difference. Both were struggling settlers when they commenced, but now there! is, apparently a vast difference in the financial standing of the two men. One o'f the two worked on the “hustle" principle and tried to get as much done as possible in the shortest possible time. It was, not long before he had the most of his farm in pasture. The other perhaps, did as much work in the same time, but progress, was much slower; his methods appeared to be more thorough, and everything he did was with an eye to the future. He worked his ground thoroughly before planting his seed. To-day the difference is this : While the man who did the quick work will have, to re-sow many of his paddocks if he wants a good pasture, the thorough man has, the whole 'farm in good heart and is doing well. The other, while perhaps doing tolerably well, is not prospering to the same extent aS his neighbour.
