SERIOUS CHARGE.
ALLEGED CARNAL KNOWLEDGE. YOUNG MAN BEFORE THE COURT. At the Paeroa Police Court On Wednesday, before. Messi's A. J. Andrews and H. J. Hare, J’s.P., a young man, a stranger to Paeroa, was arraigned on a charge of alleged carnal knowledge of a Paeroa girl under the age of 16 years. Mr E. W. Porritt appeared for. the accused. No evidence was. taken of the alleged offence, which was stated to have been committed in the; vicinity” of Hikutaia during the week-end. On the application pf the police a remand was granted until Monday morning next.
