The. Prince of .Wales Visited the North London district of Somerstown where an area of slum buildings is being replaced by .flats. He inspected one small house in which five families w'ere living. : The Prince remarked: “It is disgraceful that people have to live in these conditions.” Then the Prince visited the Magdalen College Mission nearby, where he. was greeted by charwomen, costermongers’ wives, scouts Und girl guides. He joined in camp singing. A woman said: “It’s a pity there is. no mistletoe.” • The Prince laughingly replied: “Yes; isn’t it?”
