HYGIENIC BAKERY. D. LEACH’S MODERN PLANT, In order to cope with increasing trade Mr D. Leach, Victoria Bakery, has put his business on a standard spcond to none in the province. The latent addition to the modern bakehouse is the installation of an Artofex steam oven, imported direct from England, and one of the few in this province. The patent is to ensure regular and continuous baking without turning or hapidling the bread. The steam is generated by coke fires, and the boiler room is situated outside the bakehouse, obviating dust, smuts, and asjies. The steam is carried throughout the double-decker oven by means, of 75 pipes. These pipes are filled with distilled water before being hermetically sealed in England, and do not require further attention during the life of the oven. This special oven ensures edibles such as yeast buns being baked without becoming tough «r losing value in baking. A special steam boiler attached to the Artofex provides a plentiful supply of boiling ,water, and .all implements, etc., used in manufacturing are sterilised at least once a day. The bakehouse is concreted throughout and is kept scrupulously clean, being cue, of the few that are positively rat, and vermin proof. The flourroom, adjoining .the bakehouse, has special walls and floor for ventilation, as it has been proved that bread baked with dry ventilated flour is always better. The walls are painted a snowy white, which 1 , combined with the white overalls and caps of the bakers, make for absolute cleanliness. Customers can rely on obtaining the bgst quality goods under the most modern and hygienic possible.
In addition to the bakery Mr Leach has the most up-to-date tea-rooms in the. district. Prettily decorated with 'ferns and flowers, the service is, of the best. Everything in this department, is beautifully clean, and as the >edibles are., manufactured on. the. premises patrons can rejy on receiving the clearest and puresjt. A cordial invitation is extended to all to visit the tea-rooms for morning or afternoon tea, or a light luncheon. A ladies’ toilet 'room is also a desirable adjunct to the premises.
