VICE-REGAL VISIT.
SUCCESS OF ARRANGEMENTSTHE MAYOR’S GRATIFICATION. An echo of the visit of the Qovr ernor-General to. Paeroa on Thursday last, was introduced at Tuesday night’s meeting'of the> Paeroa Bor? Sough Council by the^ reception of a, letter from the Paeroa District High , School Committee expressing thanks/ ' and’ appreciation to the council for. the-adequate arrangements made for the reception and entertainjnent of the the domain, 'where over-600 children were enabled / to be present to take part, in the pro--1 ceedings. - The Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) said it was gratifying to know that the committee was appreciative of the efforts made to cater Tor. the Welfare of the children. Continuing, His Worship expressed his sincere appreciation tff the splendid work carried out by the councillors and the various ; It was also a; matter • for appreciation the response and support accorded the council by the citizens pf Paeroa. It was resolved to forward a letter of thanks to the Salvation 'Army Band ;■ ’for .the generous prpgrarqme of music supplied, which had been favourably ' ' -commented upon by Their Excel- . lericies. Special thanks was. also accorded' the band of willing ladies who had assisted sp materially in attending to the welfare of the schoolchildren, ■.< .and also to certain local firms'who hbjd made handsome donations. . It was impossible to thank everyone,, the Mayor said, but the results had been very gratifying, and were the "subject of much ’favourable bpm? • - ment from visitors, to Paeroa, as well as from local residents.
