Mr J .H. Salmon, until recently in charge of the magisterial district of Thames, has been transferred to Wellington City as third magistrate, and Mr F. W. Platts,‘of the Te Kuiti district, will take over this district.
Intimation has be,en received that Mr H. Simmonds, of Wanganui, succeeds, Mr W. P. Payne, as stationmaster at Paeroa. Mr Simjnonds, who -holds a commission with the rank of major, is this year’s Dominion champion rifle shot.
Mr D. G. McMillan, of Turua, has received the appointment of district representative 'for the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd., with headquarters at Paeroa.
The death is announced of Mrs Cherrington, wife of the Bishop-elect o'f Waikato, which took place on November 25. It was known that the lady was in an impaired state of health, and had remained in England, but it was thought she was suffering from rheumatism. Archdeacon Cherrington reached Auckland oil Wednesday evening.
