DISTRICT NEWS.
NETHERTON. PRESBYTERIAN SALE OF WORK. The sale o'f work held in the Netherton Hall on Friday last by the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild was; a financial success, and in spite of the bad weather which prevailed ther.ei Was a go°'d attendance. The Guild members, wish to thank all tjxose who so generously gave their hqlp and, donations, thereby helping to make it possible for them to be able to add a substantial sum to the Netherton Pi’esbyterian Church Building Fund.
The, stall-holders were: Produce, Mesdames Death and A. Vowles; plain sewing,' Mesdames; McNeil and crosbies fancywork, Mesdames Adam and Potter ; cakes, Mrs Craig and Miss Whisker ; Sweets: and ice cream, Mrs Stembridge and Misses Craig, Adam, and Bradshaw ; 'fruit salad and jellies, Miss L. Vowles ; afternoon tea, Mesdames H. Dally, Locke-, Epps, and Whisker,- and Misses I. Trotter and E. Dally.
The cooking competition attracted many entries, and the awards were made as follows : Bread, Mrs Epps Ist, Mrs McKenna 2nd ; scones, Mrs J. Wilson Ist, Mrs Vercoe 2nd; pikelets, Mrs McKenna Ist, Mrs H. Dally 2nd ; fruit cake, Mrs Locke Ist, Mrs J. Wilson 2nd; seed cake, Mrs G. A. Wilson Ist, Mrs J. S. Crosbie 2nd; sponge with butter, Mrs A L. Fisher Ist, Mrs Vercoe 2nd; sponge without butter, Mrs W. Harold Ist, Mrs C. McNeil 2nd ; shortbread, Mrs T. Vowles Ist, Mrs Vercoe 2nd; gingerbread, Mrs W. Potter Ist, Mrs J. S'. Crosbie 2nd.
