ATHLETIC CLUB.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. PREPARING FOR SPORTS. A meeting o’f the management committee of the Paeroa Athletic Club was held in Mr Bain’s Rooms on Monday evening. The report of nominations for thq initial sports meeting to l be held l at the- Domain on Saturday, December 11, was submitted. Entries were received 'from as far afield as Christchurch, while, besides local athletes, Auckland, Hamilton, Morrinsville, Te Puke; Cambridge, Matamata, and Waihi were all represented. Cyclists include Taylor, who was placed in both Hamilton-Auckland. road races, and also several Blapdford Park riders.
Numerous applications concerning side-sh'ows were attended to.
Further details: in regard to the sports meeting were discussed. An innovation to this district in the matter df prize money supervision will be, tried out. Winners in all finals will receive from the judges a voucher declaring him to be the winner of the event and eligible for the- prize 'offered. This voucher will become payable at the secretary’s tent one hour 'following the event. This.- allows for protests to be lodged.
