THE GOVERNOII-GENKRAL’S TOUR.

PAEROA TO BE INCLUDED.

His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) has received official advice that His Excellency the Gov-ernor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, and Lady Fergusson and son, will pay a visit to Paeroa on Thursday, December 9.

Their Excellencies are due to arrive from Waihi about 11/a.m., and will leave Paeroa for Te Aroha at 2.30 p.m. So fa.r as is known, just how the auspicious occasion wil be observed has not been decided upon. It is understood, however, that the Gov-ernor-General had expressed, a desire to inspect the school children, girl guides, boy scouts, and returned soldiers if it can be arranged. A special meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council is to be held this evening to decide upon a programme and. make arrangements in connection with the forthcoming vice-regal visit.

The last occasion op which Paeroa was honoured with a visit from the Dominion’s Governor-General was on April 23, 1921, when Lord Jellicoe paid an official visit to<' the town.
