BRENAN SHIELD COMPETHTON.

RESULT OF SATURDAY’S PLAY. The members of the Paeroa Bowling Club se.ttled do*wn to play in earnest on Saturday afternoon, when the first games of the club competition for the. Brehan Memorial Shield were played. Owing to the; heavy rain during the week the green was rather soft, but as the afternoon wore on conditions improved and an enjoyable contest eventuated.

Owing to an apparent misunderstanding a general. meeting was, held on the green prior to the commencement of play, and it was decided by a majority of three that the competition should be played In two sections. As a result of this decision three full rinks have entered for both sections. Following are the results of Saturday’s play:— A Section. —Lowry, C. Holes, W. J. Ellis, W. H. Taylor (skip) 18; v. W. Barclay, J. Silcock, W. Forrest, W. J. Towers (skip) 17 ; G. VowleSj E. Edwards, F. Hayward, P. Williams (skip) 25; v. E. S. Masters, R. Thorp, G. P. de Castro, W. Power (skip) 13 ; G. H. Taylor’s team a bye.
