ENTERTAINMENTS.

GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES. . / • TO-NIGHT. COMBAT. Rugged pitched battles are one of the features of “Combat,” which is to> be screened to-night, with House Petej’s and Wanda Hawley in the starring role. Among other virile action there are two thrilling fights which alone stand out as. sufficiently thrilling to be the climax of the story. But neither of them is the high point of the. story. This big moment comes in as thrilling as, ever was screened. The Arts of the fights is a gang affair, a free-for-all in whi h a crowd of lumberjacks mix up with' a gang of lumber poachers who have been stealing trees A clever toluch in this fight is that it takes place in front of “The Lumberjacks’ Rest.”

CRICKET CLUB’S CQNCERT.

GAIETY THEATRE, TO-MORROW.

A reminder is given that the Paeroa Cricket Club’s grand concert is to be held at the Gaiety Theatre tomorrow night. A generous and varied programme will be submitted, comprising musical, elocutionary, and votcal items, in addition to an exhibition of classical dancing. Owing to the length of the programme the concert will commence at S p.m. sharp, and patrons are asked to be seated prior to that time, so as not to disturb the performers. The .function, which has been organised by the Paeroa Cricket' Club, should prove both enjoyable and entertaining. In asking lor the, support of the public the members point out that Paeroa missed winning the Piako Cricket Association’s competition last season by one point only. This season the club is going .to make a big bid to bring the honours to Paeroa. This concert has been promoted as a means of raising funds for the purchase of gear, wihich is urgently required if efficiency and practice are to • e mi.itahied and the members given an opportunity to show what can be done Popular prices are being charged for to-morrow night’s function, and children under 15 years will be admitted for half price.
