BABY BADLY BURNT.

CANDLE LEFT ALIGHT. BEDCLOTHES CATCH AFIRE. The week-old baby of David Mananui, of Horahia (near Ngatea), was almost burnt to death ofn Friday hlgnt last. During the night the child was restless, and the mother got up to attend to it, lighting a cajndle. She fell asleep without putting out the light, and when she again awoke the child’s bed was afire.

The baby was takqh to the hospital on Saturday morning, but very little hofoe is entertained for its recovery.
