PLAINS CRICKET.
AUCKLANDERS VISIT NOATEA. THAMES TEAM AT KOPUARAHI. The first cricket matches for Hauraki Plains players this; season were played Hast week-end, when the members of the Akargna Club, Auckland, visited Ngatea to play a challenge match with the newly formed club, and the Tararu Club, Thames, visited Kopuarahi for a friendly match. AKARANA V. NGATEA. Two matches were played at Ngatea. In the first match Ngatea knocked up 35 runs in the first innings and 32 in the second, while the visitors! secured 50 runs in tlm first innings and sufficient to win the match in the second innings by the time three wickets had fallen. In the second match Ngatea were all out for 26 and the visitors for 32. The second innings was no'it played, but a friendly game of tip and run was indulged in between teams: selected from the players present. KOPUARAHI V; TARARU. In the annual match between the Kopuarahi and Tararu clubs' on Labour Day the home team again proved its superiority. It secured 64 runs in the first innings and 75 in the second, while Tararu only .scored 38 in the whole game. For Kopuarahi Bowen reached 1 20 not out, McKay 19, and Mack'low 12. Tararu’,s score was five .Wickets down for nine runs in the first innings when Gill found his length and took five wickets in one over, the innings, ending with the visitors all out for ten runs.
In the second innings McKay for Kopuarahi knocked up 10, Russell Green 23, and Gill 11. Gill took two wickets for 4‘ runs, McKay 3 for 7, Macklow 2 for 5, Johnston 1 for 4, and Death 2 for 8.
