FOOTBALL SOCIAL.
EFFORT AT NETHERTON. A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. As a means of raising funds to further the interests of school football the friends-, members, and supporters of the Netherton Football Club held a dance and euchrer tournament at the Netherton Hail last night. There was a large and representative attendance from all parts of the district, but despite the crowd the secretary (Mr C. Stembridge) and his committee proved that they were equal to the emergency that arose. Tuneful music was supplied by Pickford’s -Orchestra, and the dutiete- of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr J. Johnson. The floor was in tip-top condition, and it is considered that last night’s function was one of the most enjoyable ever held at Netherton.
The euchre tournament, which was well patronised, w.as held in the supper room, a ; nd Mr T. Lock and his assistants had a busy time in controlling so many competitors.
After supper had been served the president of the Netherton Foiotball Club (Mr C. H. Potter) thanked those who had by their attendance assisted a worthy cause. He then presented the prizes won at the euchre tournament as fdllows : Ladies, Mrsi C. McNeil,- first; Mrs A. Bourne, second.' Men : Mr A. Catlin, first; Mr F. T. V. Johnson, second.
