CRICKET.

THE PAEROA CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annnual meeting of the Paeroa Cricket Club was held in Miss, Marshall’s room on Wednesday evening last, when there was a fair attendance of members. Mr J. M. Fox occupied the chair. The report showed that the membership for the past season numbered 14, a decrease from the previous season. Regret was expressed at losing Mr Halliday, hon. secretary oif the 1924-25 season, who was: one of the best bats and a very enthusiastic cricketer. The club was also unfortunate in. making a late start in the season. Of the matches played in the competition six were won and three lost, losing the championship by one point. Of the friendly games two were won and two lost. This was a very creditable record after the bad made.

In the bowling Mr “Ted.” Edwards, had the splendid average of 3.5, taking 67 wickets for 24*2 runs and winning the tro’phy donated by the Piako Cricket Association. Other bowlers worthy of mention were Messrs T. Robinson, 6 wickets for 30 runs ; J. M. Fox, 7 for 45 ; G. Stack, 8 for 52. In the batting G. Stack topped the averages with an average of 15 per innings in the .association games and 39 in the friendly matches. F. Pivott gained second honours with 14, and JM. Fox was third with 10.1. Fox was the most improved player of the season.

The fielding was very gootl, 48 catches being taken in the season, J. Verran and F. Pivott heading the list with six each. Verran in particular was good in the field. The balance-sheet showed that the total receipts for .the year amounted to £3l 16s 5%d, and the expenditure £3l 10s 6d. The credit balance at. the beginning of the year was £1 15s 4d, and the club finished up the s.eason with a small credit balance; ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers were elected for the season: Patron, Mr W. Marshall; president, Mr H. E. Butler; vicei-presidents, Messrs C. Moorhouse, J. Bowden, D. McWatters, J. P. Gamble, W. Fleming, E. Fathers, D. Leach, G. Fallon, C. Rice, F. Smith, C. Short, B. Raffill, P. Williams, W. Robson; captain, G. Stack ; vice-captain, J. M. Foix ; treasurer, Mr H. Tams; selection committee, Messrs Edwards, Stack, Fox; general committee, Messrs H. M. Shand, C. Rolton. W. Lawrence, T. Robinson, J. GoOnan ; delegates to Piako Cricket Association, Messrs H. M. Shand and H. Tams. The subscription for seniors was fixed at 7s 6d and for ss. New members were : H. Mitchell, W. Ci'anch, H. McKee, H. W. Broyd, W. W. Hutchinson, C. Oates, R. K. Wilson. The club expressed its thanks to the outgoing officers, the local Press, and the general public who had assisted during the past seas.on.
