A POPULAR GUARD.
MB. G. MORRISON FAR K WELLED.
PRESENTATION AT STATION.
A pleasing little ceremony took place at the. Paerda Railway Station on Wednesday last, when the staff assembled in force to farewell Mr G. Morrison, who has been a guard at Paeroa for. many years and who has been transferred to Frankton Junction.
On behalf of the local staff the stationmaster (Mr W. P. Payne) called upon Mr Morrison to accept a travelling rug and a leather suit-case as tokens of the high esteem and regard in which he was held. Mr Payne said that, their departing comrade had been a loyal and courteous official, and his Obliging manner and cheery disposition had won him a wide circle of friends. Whilst regretting his departure from their midst they were all happy in the knowledge that their • friend was 'receiving well-deserved promotion. Earnest good wishes for his future welfare and success were expressed by the speaker and an assurance given that his career in the service would be followed with interest.
Messrs C. S. Wrack (chief clerk) and J. Mclntyre (loco, department) also spoke eulogistic, ally of Mr Morrison, and wished him good luck and prosperity for the future. Mr Morrison suitably responded, and thanked the staff for their cifts, adding that although he desired promotion he was genuinely sorry to leave so many good friends behind him at Paeroa.
