LOCAL RAINFALL.
OBSERVATIONS FOR SEPTEMBER. LIGHT FALL REGISTERED. Last month might be regarded as a fine weather month locally, the rainfall being much below the average for previous Septembers. From observations recorded at the local office of the Public Works Department 'rain fell on .17 days during the month, the heaviest fall being 1.10 inches for the 24 hours ending midnight on the 30th. The total ra,in for September w,as Only 3.40 inches, which is 1.16 inches less than that of the corresponding month of last year.
Taking the rainfall for the nine months of this ye.a r , records show that the total fall ha& been above the average, totalling 43.66 inches. Foi- the first nine months in 1925 the total was only 34.82 inches. The prevailing wind for 14 days last month was south-westerly. There was only one day on which there was an easterly wind. The lowest reading of the theimolmeter was 47 degrees-, on Setpember 22. The hottest day during the month was Thursday last, when 60 degrees were The barometer readings duifing the month varied from 29.75 inches to 30.57 inches,
