DANCING AND EUCHRE.
AN ENJOYABLE FUNCTION. Despite the wet night there was ,a large attendance at th® dance and euchre tournament held at the Gaiety Theatre. last night. The function, which was arranged by the members of St. Paul’s Church, was. well organised, and patrons appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves. Careful attention had been given .to the floor, with the result that it was In particularly good condition; and the melodious music- contributed by the Symphony Orchestra mafie dancing a pleasure, the M.C. Mr 'A. F. Thorp, having little difficulty in keeping matters going with a Saving.
Mr .W. J. Towers and his assistants experienced a busy time looking after the large number of euchre players taking part in the tournament, which was held on the stage. :
Last night’s function marked the close of a series! of dances held by the Church members, and considerable credit is due to the joint secretaries, Messrs A. 4*. Grant and W. H. Blakeway, td whom much of the success and popularity o’f the dances is dueWhen presenting the Prizes during the supper adjournment Mr E. Edwards thanked the donors of prizes and all those who had supported and assisted the functions. Special thapks and appreciation were accorded the orchestra for services cheerfully given.
The euchre prizes were then presented as follows: Ladies, Mrsj Mills, first, Mrs A. Bridge second. Men: Mr Lewer first Mr McKenzie second.
