HORAHIA DRAINAGE.
MONTHLY MEETING OF BOARD.
The Horahia Drainage Board met on Thursday last, Mr F. A- Kneebone presiding over Messrs W. McDuff, S. S. Murray, J. M. Thompspn, R. L. Davies, W. E. Hale, J. C. Millei, and the clerk, Mr W; E. G. Willy. _ Mr Thompson was authorised to have the drain from the Racecouise drain to Mr Jones’ house, Kerepeehi, and a portion of the drain on the other side of the road, cleaned out. A portion of the board’s section at thej corner of Piako djid. Keiepeehi roads was ; let to 1 a bacon exporting company for the purpose of erecting a pig receiving depot. wThe matter of dragging the weeds ini the Wharepoa roadside drain in the board’s district was left to the overseer to arrange.
The cleaning of a further 35 chains of Price’te outlet wa.s authorised, a contract being let to the gang employed in scooping back the banks. The clerk reported that the floodgate on the McDuff-Loucfr drain had ■collapsed, and he had asked the Lands Drainage Department to replace it. This a.ction. rwas approved.
A contract was let for the construction of a drain from the northeast corner of Wheeler’s section to connect with, Sloane’s outlet. The price of Is Id' included the fencing. Further portions of the Government grant of £2OOO wlere received. In all £1522 has so far h«en received ed and expended. Accounts totalling £5ll on £ e gen 'era! account and £1406 tfn the oan account were passed for payment.
