CORONATION CEREMONY.

CROWNING OF “QUEEN” RETA.

FINALE OF CARNIVAL CONTEST.

Considerable interest is, being taken in the ceremony of crowning “Queen Reta,” to be held at the Gaiety Theatre, Paeroa, on'Monday and Tuesday nights next. When the local Boy Scouts, committee decided ten institute queen carnival as a means of 'raising funds, an undertaking was given at the time that a public coronation ceremony would be: held, and every endeavour is being made to make the function an 'unqualified success'. For nearly six wejeks past the participants, in the ceremony have been practising assiduously, and it is understood that there has been ample talent.available, and very satisfactory progress has beep made. The ceremony will be on a lavish scale; and it is doubtful if such a gorgeous function has 'been seen previously in Paeroa. The actual coronation is, as far as possible, to be a replica of the historical ceremony at Westminster Abbey. Gorgeous dresses have been procured from Auckland, and full Royal Court dress will be closely followed. In the actual coronation ceremony alone about 150 adults and children will take part, each of whom will be arrayed according to the position held.

The crowning is to be performed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, in the person of Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P. Misse.s I. Masters and C. Fleming, yellow and red queens respectively, will be enthroned as princesses, and each will have a separate count. In addition to the attendance of the Symphony Orchestra and the Waihi Federal Band there will be vocal and instrumental items, dancing, marching, and tableaux. The box plan is at W. McCullay’s, Normanby Road.
