LIQUOR RECEIVED LAST YEAR.

According to a return tabled in the •House of Representatives '299,813 gallons of liquor were sent into* nolicense districts in New Zealand for the year which ended on December 31; 1925. Beer and stout accounted for 275,047 gallons, brandy for 906 gallons, gin and schnapps fox- 894, gallons, rum fox- 1280 gallons, whisky for 13,932 gallons, anti wine for 7752 gallons.

Invercargill was shown to be the most thirsty district, its quota bfeing 89,342 gallons*. Masterton was next with 45,171 gallons, made* up oF 41,227 gallons of beer and stout, 105 of brandy, 145 of gin and schnapps, 31 of rum, 2144 of whisky, and 1519 of wine. Wellington Sbuth received 7572 gallons, representing 7139 gallons df beer and stout, 18 of brandy, 30 of gin and schnapps, 9of rum, 133,0 f whisky, and 242 of wine. The totaj fbr Wellington Suburbs was 11,651 gallons;, made up 10,711 gallons of b'efer and stout, 16 of brandy, 33 of gin and schnapps, 11 of rum, 466 of whisky, and: 412 of wine. The totals for the different districts were as follows: Ashburton, 19,868 gallons ; Clutha, 31,461 gallons ; Eden, 9904 gallons ; Grey Lynn, 7242 gallons; Invercargill, 89,342 gallons ; Masterton, 4'5,171 gallons; Mata-ura, 33,759 gallons; Oamaru, 22.37,0 gallons; Ohinemuri, 10,479 gallons; Roskill, 10,989 gallons; Wellington South, 7572 gallons; Wellington Suburbs, 11.651 gallons. <
