CHILDREN’S BALL.
GIRL GUIDES’ EFFORT.
AN ENJOYABLE FUNCTION.
The children’s fancy dress ball organised by the first Paeroa Girl Guide. Committee, which was held on Friday evening, was a great success.. The. many beautiful costumes blended with the ca,nopy of coloured streamers* and balloons, and turned the Soldiers’ Club into a Fairy land. The Grand March, known as the Paeroa Guide march, led by Miss Emmott (Guider) and her patrol leaders, was a very pleasing spectacle. Mrs Pascoe present-eld the prizes for the dancing competitions, arranged by Miss Gibb. The sumptuous supper was greatly enjoyed, and the lollies, donated by- Mrs Fathers, were an unlooked-for surprise. The balloons, which were presented by Mrs de Castro and Miss Menzies, were a great delight to the “tinies,” who each received one, on leaving. Some mention must be made, of the “white kitten,” who recited a. beautiful poem, causing much applause. The Guider’s Fairy story kept the children happy while their elders were' partaking of coffee and cakes. Thanks, must be tendered to the committee for a most enjoyable evening which their ard'us duties rendered.
