THE RAINFALL.
AUGUST FIGURES FOR PAEROA.
LAST YEAR’S PERIOD EXCEEDED.
From information supplied by tlie Paeroa office.of the Public Works Department the local rainfall for August was 4.48 inches, being 1.25 inches less than the amount recorded for the corresponding month last year. Rain fell on 14 days last month, the heaviest fall being’’oil Monday last, August 30, when the recorded amount was- 0.68 inch.,
The total ■ rainfall for the first eight months of this year amounts to 40.26 inches, which is an increase of 10 inches on the figures fur the corresponding period in 1925. During last month the prevailing wind was south-westerly. The thermometer averaged 50 degrees during the month, the coldest day being oh Thursday last, August 26, when 40 degrees we,re registered. The barometer readings avenaged 30.20, and the lowest reading was on August 10, when it dropped to 28.50.
