Ideal weather condiitons pi evailed for the local Rugby fixtures on Saturday afternobn, and the fields were in good playing condition. A fair crowd assembled at the local domain to see the Anal for the Sharebrokers’ Gup in ;the junior competition. The struggle for the coveted trophy was fought but between the Waihi and Paeroa representatives, and the game was a willing one from beginning to end. The Waihi team, which has held the trophy’for several seasons past, was out to retain the cup and the local fifteen were just as. determined that the visiterrsp should be forced to lower their colours. The teams were fairly evenly matched, the local team, if anything, being a little the heaviei. On the day the better team won, but the game was much more even than the scores —11 to 0- -indicate. Worth spoiled a good chance for the visitors to spore from the kick-out by offside play and Conolly cleared. Neil joined in, and then Conolly, but the last-named was offside. The visitors took a turn at attack, and a loose rush in which Walker and Furey were prominent was upset by a breach and Rackham cle.ared. A few seconds later a good passing 'bout was spoiled by Lovett holding on too long, the ball eventually going out. A scramble carried play into Waihi territory, where a scrum was ordered from which Furey marked and cleared. Waihi followed up the kick, jjut Lovett cleared to halifi-way. The lineout was: scrummed.
