ENJOYABLE EVENING SPENT. WEATHER MARS ATTENDANCE: The Anglican social, which was held •under the allspices ofi the workers of St. Paul’s Church at the Gaiety Theatre, Paeroa, last night, attracted fair support. Unfortunately the wet night prevented a number of people Trom attending, but those who braved the elements; spent an enjoyable time. The duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr A. F. Thorp, a,nd those who took the floor to the strains of the dance music contributed by the Symphony Orchestra of eight musicians wiere insistent in their demands for more. The euchre tournament, which 'was, held on the stage '.attracted nearly a hundred players, and competition was keen throughout. During the supper adjournment. Mr E. Edwards presented, the prizes as follows :—Ladies : Mrs Parry, first; ■Mrs. Laird, second. Men: Mr R. Wilson, first; Mr L, Lovich, second. Mh 1 Edwards paid a tribute to the ladies who had worked so hard towarde making the function a success. He expressed regret that the fates had not decreed findr weather, and congratulated and thanked those who had come along and supported the promoters.
