THAMES VALLEY INSTALLATIONS

MOTORS FOR MILKING SEASON.

Included in the report submitted to Tuesday’s meeting Of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board the manager, Mr R. Sprague, stated that the total number of consumers connected to the Board’s mains at July 30, 1926, was 5916, which included the boroughs of Thames and Te Aroha, 53 lighting and heating consumers, 31 water heaters, 10 electric ranges, together with 19 motors on (farms, of which 11 are 2-h.p. milking motors, were also connected. The report stated that there were now connected and operating 745 water heaters and 108 electric ranges, the total number of motors installed and running on farms being 1660, of fhich 1451 are . 2rh.p. milking motors. In the number of motors connected to the. Board’s mains during the month seven are on .already existing lines. There were also connected in meter areas, 1 40-h.p., 1 32-h.p., 1 20-h.p., 1 3-h.p., 1 2-h.p., and 2 %-h.p. motors, 3 water heaters, and one electric range. Owing to the proximity of the milking season farmers are now' making application for motors to be installed for milking

purpos.es. The income for the three months ended June 30, 1926, is as follows Flat rate, (lighting, heating, and power), £13,029 17s; water heaters, £658 10s. 6d ; ovens, £4ll 9s 5d ; towns (lighting, ehating, and power), £5,125 12s lid; street lighting, £252 9s, towns, maximum demand, £902 6s 5d ; factories and industries, £1,454 10s lid ; trading department, £l,OOO ; sundries, £700; total £23,534 16s 2d.

The expenditure was: power purchases-, £7,066 10s 7d; interest and sinking fund, £10,625 ; administration and maintenance, £4,055 §d; discounts, £1,512 14s 9d ’, balance, £275 10s sd\ total, £23,534 16s 2d.
