PLAINS RAINFALL.
FIGURES FOR JULY.
The rain gauge at the Lands Department’s: Kerepeehi office shows that during the month of July a total of 6.35 inches of rain fell on the. twelve wet days. This was nearly two and a-hal¥ inches above the average for the month during the past 15 years, and the highest record for Jply since the gauging was, commenced. The high total was due. to the exceptional rain that fell between 8 a.m. on the 10th and 8 a,m, on the 13th, -the figures for the. three days being: 11th, 1.81 inches!; 12th, 1.70 inches ; 13th, 1.16 inches. The total ,for the year to the end of July was 29.09 inches', rain haying been recorded on 88 Of the 212 days. The average rainfall for the first seven months- of the last 12 years, is 20.04 inches, and this year’s total has been exceeded three times!—-in 1915, 1923, and 1924.
