ALLEGED NEGLECT.

EX-SOLDIERi’S £3OOO CLAIM. A claim for £3OOO compensation for alleged neglect in treatment is contained in a petition presented to Parliament on behajf of Sydney Tovey, of Taranaki Street, Wellington. Entering camp on April 4, 1916, petitioner states that he injured his back while drilling on a troopship, - where treatment was administered to him. A second injury of a similar nature was received while packing •ammunition at Pa r sschendaele, and treatment was given him at various times. He returned to New Zealand permanently unfit in 1918, but was discharged without being accoirded the further treatment recommended at Brockenhurst. Petitioner claims that he has had recurrences bif the pains in the back, and owing to his disability is unable to follow his usual occupation. His pension amounts to £1 a week.
