Mr R. W. Evans, clerk to the Ohinemuri County Council, is at present attending the annual conference of the N.Z. Counties’ Association at Wellington. ■'

Mr H. L. Briffault, Public Works Department overseer, has been transferred from Tahora to Paeroa. He will be stationed at Kopu during the erection of the Hauraki bridge across the Waihou River near Kopu.

Mr W. P. Payne, stationmaster at Paeroa, is, at present on three weeks’ annual leave- Mr J. Barker, of Auckland, is relieving Mr Payne.

Intimation has been received that Mr John Slyfleld, aged 76 years, died’ at his residence, Green Lane, Auckland, on Wednesday, sifter a brief 111nes.s. Deceased leaves a widow, two daughters, and six sons to mourn their loss- Included in that number, are Mrs F. C. Blyth and Mr EL V, Slyfleld, both of Paeroa.
