In his presidential address at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Friesian Breeders’ Association at Pa.lmerston North recently Mr W. AE. Gill stated .that during the year Friesian cattle again took, most of the honours in the butter-fa,t competitions, and at the Buller A. and P. show won the butter-fat competition. At the Tiniaru A. and P. show .they were first and second in the association competition. At .the Wairaiapa show they were first in the class for cows giving the -most butter-fat in 24 hours. At the Mii.nawatu‘ show, they won. the Alfa-Laval for the best dairy cow of any breed. The Osmond special trophy was also won by Friesians. At the Auckland show Friesians were first, second, and third for the cow producing the greatest amount of butter-fat. They were also fiist, second, and third tor the cow giving the greatest weight of milk, and were also first, second, and third in the Lovel and Christmas Challenge Cup for the. cow giving the greatest quantity of butter-fat. At the Wellington winter show the Friesians were first, second, and third in the six days’ trial for butte'r-fajt, and Friesians also won ,the Osmond special prize.
