FOOTBALL SOCIAL.

WEST CLUB’S FUNCTION.

•AN ENJOYABLE EVENING SPENT.

The annual social under the auspices of the West Football Club was held at the Gaiety Theatre, on Monday night, and proved iin unqualified success. There was a, large attendance, visitors being present from all parts of the district. The decorations, comprising for the most part nikau ferns and the club’s colours, black and white, were artistically arranged, and were much admired. A large number of people took the floor, and the M’s.C., Messrs W. Taylor, V. Carrick, and J. M. Crosby, had a, busy time. The fact that two and three after each dance, and on one occasion no less than six, were made bears striking testimony to the quality and excellence of the dance music contributed by Pickford’s orchestra. Messrs B. Neil and T. H. Hale controlled the euchre tournament, which was held on the stage. At the supper adjournment the president (Mr E. Edwards) presented the prizes to the winners, as follows: Ladies, Mrs J. White first, Mrs J. Rush second, Mrs J. Martin third, -Mrs W, Bain booby; men, C. Stallard first, H. Lewer second, L, Gibb third, G, McKee booby.
