The Ohinemuri County Council meets at Paeroa to-morrow.

In reply to Mr W. E. G. Willy, with reference to the Bombay-Waiki’' o power line, at yesterday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board the engineer (Mr N. G. McLeod) said it was understood tha.t the Government intended to erect a substation at Kerepeehi. That location had been chosen for the reason that it was believed that the Lands Department would be la,rge users of power.

The Mayor of. Waihi ha,s received a reply from the member for the district, Mr A. M. Samuel, in answer to his message urging early consideration of the Borough Council’s application for a grant towards the completion of the Beach road, to the effect that he (Mr Samuel) had placed the matter in the hands of the Hon. Minister of Public Works with a request for urgent consideration, a,nd would communicate his reply at the earliest possible moment. Mr Wallnu'tt stressed the point that the matter of unemployment should induce the department to ma.ke the grant without delay so that the work could be commenced immediately.

At the request of Mr F. E. Flatt, at yesterday’s meeting df the Thames Valley Power Board it was resolved that the engineer bring down a return showing the number of poles used a. month, the number of poles carried on each voyage, and the cost of the return freight to Newcastle ; also an estimate of the number required for the future extension of lines and renewals.

At Monday night’s meeting of the. Paeroa Chamber of Commerce it was resolved, on the motion of Mr E. W. Porritt, to admit the local postmaster, stationmaster, and resident engineer a.s honorary members of the chamber. In moving the resolution Mr Porritt said that the Government offeers named frequently came with assistance a.nd information, which ■was desirable and a help, to the chamber.
