HIGH SCHOOL FIRE.

BLAZE AT NEW PLYMOUTH. CLASS ROOMS GUTTED. NEW PLYMOUTH, June 12. Fire broke out in the boys’ high school buildings about 4 a.m., and before it was suppressed it gutted four class-rooms, destroying all the contents.

The fire is supposed to have started in the fireplace, as there were fires in two or three rooms yesterday. The fire brigade attended promptly, but the fire had a good hold upon flouring and other woodwork, and it took, a,n hour to get control. The building is of concrete. Outside accommodation will be secured to enable the school, to carry on during rebuilding. Tlie fire was first observed by one of the boys in the boarding establishment nearby. The building was insured for £ll,OOO in the South British, and the damage will probably prove to be between £5OOO and £6OOO.
