SCHOOL EXCURSION.

WAIKATO WINTER SHOW TRIP. PAEROA PUPILS TO PARTICIPATE Something of a novelty for the pupils attending the Paeroa District High. School has been arranged for Friday, June 4. In reply to representations made to the Auckland Education Board the local School Committee has received authority to grant a special: holiday on June 4 for the purpose .of allowing the children ,to attend the Waikato Winter Show at Hamilton. The Railway Department is running a special train, which is timed to leave Paeroa at 8.25 a.m,, arriving at Hamilton at 11.4 a.m. The train will leave Hamilton op the return journey at 4.25 p.m., and is due to reach Paeroa; at 6.42 p.m. Special tickets at day excursion rates will be issued to children, senior scholars, teachers, and bona fide members df the school committee. The return fares will be ■ Children up to 15 years, Is 9d; scholars up to 19 years,- 2s 2d; teachers and members of committee, 3s ; parents and friends; 55,10 d. It is estimated that 198 children under 15 years, 20 under 19 years, 12 teachers, and a large number of a.dults will travel from Paeroa bn the day arranged.

The Winter Show authorities have forwarded a time-table for each child attending school which will also admit them free to the: show. A Hamilton firm has alsci kindly consented to provide each child with a cup ofc tea and a bun prior to departing on the return journey, and children are asked to take their own mugs with them. Arrangements are also being made for the mid-day meal at Hamilton.

It is hoped that parents-will avail themselves of this unique opportunity of allowing their children tel take part in the excursion. The Railway Department is running the trains, purely in the. interests of education. The pupils will obtain ap educational 1, advantage by gaining first-hand information and knowledge of the industries and productive power’s of the Dominion in general, and more particularly of the Auckland province.
